Embryologists and Laboratory Staff

Donna Laky, B. A., B. S., T. S.

Donna is our head embryologist and the supervisor of all our laboratories. Donna has been working in reproductive laboratories for more than 18 years and has experienced the rapid and powerful growth in this technology. She has experience in both small and large programs. In spite of the demands of embryology, Donna has a sixteen year old daughter, who is also very interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.

Joseph Sokoloski, B. S.

Joe functions as a senior associated embryologist. Joe has participated in some of our retrieval weeks, but is not generally in the lab when we are not actively doing IVF. Joe enables us to build on our strengths as a small IVF program, providing individualized treatment in a more personal environment, while giving us some of the strengths of a much larger program (such as a greater wealth of experience and contacts with individuals in touch with the pulse of this specialty). Joe set up his first IVF program in 1983. He has participated in thousands of embryology cases and has helped start many IVF programs. He has worked with many of the early leaders in American IVF such as Martin Quigley and Don Wolf. He has written many papers, abstracts, book chapters, and video presentations.

Ingelise Brown, B. S., Medical Technologist

Ingelise assists Donna in the endocrinology and male infertility labs during our periods of peak IVF activity.  Before joining our practice about ten years ago, Ingelise worked at New York Babies Hospital and at the Tissue Typing Laboratory at the University of Minnesota Hospitals in Minneapolis.

All the members of Ingelise's immediate family are in the medical field:  Ingelise is married to a pathologist, her older daughter is a recently board-certified internist, and her younger daughter is a student at Temple University Medical School.

Nurse Practitioner

Amy Frick, CRNP

Amy Frick, CRNP joined Infertility Solutions, P.C. in 2009. Amy is the primary nurse practitioner at the Clark Summit and Allentown office sites. Within the practice, she assists Dr. Rose in managing infertility patients. Amy ensures that patients who undertake an infertility therapy are well educated in what they need to do and she provides continuing support for their treatment. In addition, she also sees patients independently for general gynecology and health maintenance.  Patients may call our office to schedule an appointment for gyn care with her after they have met their infertility needs.  Some patients with infertility problems will benefit from the more specialized care that recognizes the gynecological implications of what caused their infertility in the first place.  Some patients will just prefer the more individualized care that this practice provides.

Amy received her master’s degree in nursing with a focus as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. After working in family practice and OB/GYN in the Scranton are for several years, she joined the Infertility Solutions, P.C. staff. Amy’s interests include all aspects of women’s health especially infertility and menopause with a focus on patient teaching.

Even with a busy career, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also volunteers with numerous associations in the Scranton area.

Nursing

Christine Sommer, IVF coordinator, medical assistant

Christine is our IVF coordinator, receptionist and medical assistant. It is likely that her job activities are the most varied in the practice in that she covers for almost everyone and has to know at least a little about everything. She is also quite busy at home with two growing boys who are active in sports each season. Life is full.

Maureen Rose, RN

Maureen works part-time for the practice. Her husband is Dr. Rose. She has been a nurse for more than twenty years and has worked in pediatrics, med-surg, the emergency room and the ICU. She has three children and still clearly recalls the heartbreak of infertility.
