Basically In Vitro Maturation works like this:

• Immature eggs are taken from the ovaries.
• The ovaries are not stimulated by medicine or hormones.
• The eggs are matured in the laboratory.

After that, the process is handled the rest of the way in a similar fashion to standard In Vitro Fertilization.

So What’s The Big Difference?

In Vitro Maturation could be a better option for you due to two primary reasons:

• There are almost no shots.
• The price tag is a mere fraction of what it costs for In Vitro Fertilization.

Since the eggs are not matured inside the body, you don’t have to visit your doctor’s office a million times during the process to get hormone shots in the buttocks. As you may have heard, the incessant shots associated with In Vitro Fertilization can leave bruises and welts on the buttocks due to the frequency.

Then there’s the money issue. Since the office trips are far less frequent, you aren’t paying an arm and a leg to see a doctor, get shots, parking, time off work, etc.

State Passed Legislation

About a decade ago, government officials in New Jersey decided to put their foot down on the issue of IVF cost. What they did was pass legislation that requires large companies to foot the bill for their employees’ infertility treatments—or part of it, at least. This includes:
